Faux Plants Don’t Resemble Real Plants

It can be challenging to figure out how to do plant-based home art. Proper care is necessary for natural plants to remain alive and maintain their beauty and freshness. Instead of real plants, you could fill your house with fake ones, which requires more work and care. But most interior designers will tell you that this is not a beneficial idea. It’s tough to find fake plants that look like the real thing. Most of the time, they will make your home look cheap.

If you want to try something new and fun, decorating with real plants is a wonderful idea. You might discover that you have a natural affinity for gardening.

Bold Statement Walls Can Be Overpowering

It can be tempting to fill your walls with things that show off your personality if your style is bright, fun, and bold. However, some items may be overly designed. You can make your home feel like a joyful reflection of who you are without going too far and ruining the look. Bright colors and lots of different wallpaper designs will make the room look crowded and fake.

If you like bright colors, don’t put them on your walls. Instead, use bright decorations. This makes your space more flexible, making it easier to change the way it looks as your style changes over time.

An All-White Palette Can Feel Stale

A white rug or couch is a dangerous but classy choice, and white walls are always a beneficial idea. But when does it become overdone? If your whole area is white, it might look clean and cheap. The goal is for your home to feel warm and welcoming, but all-white decor can quickly go against this. Pops of color will make your home look more stylish and high-class. Don’t let it look empty.

Fill your room with just one or two white pieces, like a coffee table and TV stand, to show that you have excellent taste. Accent colors in the rest of your furniture and decor can add depth to the room.

Mason Jars Are Best for Crafts, Not Home Decor

Reusing things is a rewarding way to help the earth and get crafty at the same time. Even though mason jars are ideal for this, there are times and places when you shouldn’t use them. It can be enjoyable and creative to decorate with mason jars for holidays, parties, and other events. They are, however, not the most stylish thing to have out all year as your main piece of art. It might just make your house look tacky and cheap.

You can store many things in mason jars, but they can quickly make your house look messy, so don’t do this if you want your home to look nice!

Reproductions of Famous Artwork Can Come Across as Cheesy

People all over the world know the work of skilled artists like Monet, Van Gogh, and Picasso. Millions of people have copied and remade their work, with copies appearing on pillows, tapestries, and sign paper, among other items. At first, it might seem like a beneficial idea to give in to this trend and fill your home with things that have their famous art on them, but it’s actually pretty tacky and can make you look cheap.

What makes this a poor design choice? Well, these copies of great works of art are so common now that too many people have them. Also, if it’s not the real thing, it’s probably a cheap copy.

Unique Lamps May Not Be the Most Appealing Choice

A lot of people don’t know how important lighting is or how much it can change the look and feel of your home. Occasionally, people tend to overlook the importance of lighting. In particular, purchasing unusual lamps could potentially diminish the value of your entire house. Getting attractive lights for your living room will make it look nicer instead of tacky.

Do not buy the lamp that looks like a doll’s head or leg. Instead, pick a simple one with the right color bulb, and you will be prepared to go.

    Blanket Ladders Lack Practicality

We need to address this common mistake in interior design. We no longer use blanket ladders for decoration. You could keep them in your living room to grab if you get cold on the couch. The negative news is that they can make your space look old-fashioned and silly. Remove these items from your home to make it appear more expensive!

Consider buying blankets that match your furniture, folding them, and placing them on the couch.

    Avoid Glass Furniture

From the 1970s to the 1990s, glass furniture was extremely popular. You couldn’t go into a house without seeing at least one piece of glass furniture. But tables and shelves made of glass are very out of style these days. Currently, if you’re looking to update and purchase new large pieces of furniture, steer clear of glass. It may require a significant amount of maintenance and can easily become soiled.

Glass tends to get dirty quickly, so if you don’t clean it all the time, your home might look stained, which is never a good thing.

    Chintz Wallpaper Is Outdated

Chintz wallpaper can look beautiful, especially in cool hotels or Victorian museums. What about the house? According to home designers, you shouldn’t follow this trend in your own home. Over time, this trend may make your room appear outdated and overwhelming. With too many colors and things in the room, it will be challenging to add anything else without making it look crowded.

    chrissiehomeanddesign/Instagram

It might look like you haven’t decorated or updated your home in years if you use this old wallpaper. If you want something more modern, a basic white wall is always a suitable choice.
